How to Bloom: A Bloom Journal Sneak Peak

Written By Priya Thomas and Vivian Liu

To celebrate the release of the Bloom Journal on Amazon, we decided to make a blog post giving you all a sneak peek of what’s inside!

Section 1: Being Buried is all about processing the negative things that have happened to you and asks you to challenge the negative thoughts you have. One activity in the journal is writing empowering truths about yourself.

Second 2: Being Planted. It’s a reminder that nothing bad lasts forever. In this section, you are encouraged to create a timeline of your life and reflect on both the good and bad things that happened to you. For me, this helped me to appreciate how far I’ve come in life and how much more I can accomplish!

Section 3: Budding and Rising. Its focus is to make your life fuller and happier. The activity that helped me achieve balance in my life is making a pie chart of my life. It allowed me to consider what I wanted to take up the most space in my life. We all have limited time and energy, so we should focus on doing things that make us happy. I wanted to make more time for myself to exercise, as that really improves my mental and physical health!

Section 4: Spreading Seeds. This part of the book develops your sense of purpose. My favorite activity is when I reflected on a time I performed a random act of kindness. Doing something kind psychologically makes you a happier person because it boosts your brain’s happy chemicals: dopamine and serotonin! It also made me think of all the times a stranger did something nice for me (like when a classmate bought me my favorite candy in middle school just for fun!).

Section 5: Being Watered. In this section, I wrote several things that I loved about myself. Realizing that I’m a very passionate and friendly person made me think that I should really be kinder to myself because I would totally be friends with me and I’d never be so harsh to my friends. I felt much more confident knowing that I had the traits that I value in others. This activity succeeded in building self-love and confidence.

Section 6: Growing Strong. Empathy, forgiveness, and gratitude are the highlights of this section. This activity was perhaps the most difficult for me because I had to reflect on a time I was unkind to someone else and what was going through my life at the time. Despite this, I took away from this chapter a much better sense of everyone’s struggles and this activity helped me to take other’s actions less personally, something I definitely struggle with.

Section 7: Becoming Rooted. This last section focuses on inner strength and groundedness. I really got a chance to look back and give advice to my younger self with the question: “What advice would you give to your younger self?”. There was a lot I wanted to say but after considering everything I had written down in the Bloom Journal, I settled on telling myself this. Just do your best. Everything will be okay.

I learned so much about myself with the Bloom Journal. If you liked this Blog Post and want to learn more about how you can truly Bloom, you can find more in the Bloom Journal now available on Amazon.com. I hope that you all can take away from it as much as I did! :)
